Description
CODE//INV[AD]E is a live audio–visual performance that fuses Japanese koto with Eurorack electronics and real-time, audio-reactive visuals built in Max/MSP/Jitter. The score moves across a wide spectrum without settling into a single genre, shifting from atmospheric soundworlds to grid-driven IDM, ethereal electronics, and abrasive, avant-garde passages. These stylistic transitions function as chapters, constructing a coherent world through contrast: sparse versus dense, symmetrical versus fractured, pulse versus drift.
A transmission device sits on stage. At irregular intervals it emits a distorted signal that interrupts the system and leaves a residue in the music and image. The visuals are not decorative backdrops; they operate as a second instrument. They follow concrete rules tied to the sound, moving between ordered geometric architectures, error-like breaks, and soft “membrane” states where noise becomes structure rather than disruption.
“People see what they want to see.” CODE//INV[AD]E is designed as a narrative live set—an audiovisual arc experienced in real time through sound, light, and rhythm.
