Juandros(June) is a New York-based multimedia artist whose work spans visual and auditory realms, fusing traditional Japanese koto music with futuristic electronic sounds and immersive CGI visuals. His innovative approach creates an experience that bridges the past and future, blending the ancient with the cutting edge. Specializing in genre-mixed music composition, modern style koto performance, filmmaking, CGI, and interactive programming, June crafts genre-defying pieces that push the boundaries of both sound and visual art.
As a solo koto performer, June collaborates with jazz fusion ensembles, contemporary classical musicians, and has worked within both improvisational and traditional Japanese music groups. These diverse musical experiences in New York City have influenced his distinctive approach to the koto, particularly through the use of effect processors, enabling the instrument to seamlessly integrate into a range of musical genres and roles. In addition to his work as a composer and performer, June is a multimedia artist who combines live music with interactive sound and 3D visual projections, using tools like Max/MSP Jitter to create fully immersive environments. In 2011, he founded ARis//Absolute Reality of the Indefinite Sense, a multimedia dance company that serves as a platform for his expansive creative vision. June’s accomplishments include winning prestigious awards such as the John Lennon Songwriting Contest and the International Songwriting Competition, as well as contributing to an award-winning short film featured at the Raindance Film Festival and Monaco International Film Festival. In 2016, his debut as a director, editor, composer, and art director for a multimedia film earned recognition at the NYC Independent Film Festival.

[Artist statement]
Diverse approach for the traditional instrument. Evolvement, adaption for the environment of the traditional culture that leads to the next globalism.
In an era marked by rapid technological advancements, particularly the rise of AI, society finds itself at a crossroads. On one side, there are those who strive to preserve and honor traditional methods, seeing them as essential to our cultural identity. On the other, there are those who advocate for discarding the past entirely in the pursuit of reinvention and progress. My belief is that a new standard lies in between: a synthesis of old and new, where innovation does not come at the cost of heritage but, rather, builds upon it.
Through my music and art, I aim to incarnate this new value—a vision where traditional forms like the koto can coexist with futuristic elements like electronic synthesizers and immersive CGI visuals. My work is not about choosing between the old and the new; it’s about creating something new altogether by integrating both. The koto, a symbol of Japan’s rich cultural history, meets the digital age, transcending genres and expectations. In this paradigm shift, I create a space where past and future are not opposites but collaborators, where the wisdom of the old world is reimagined in a new context to build a future enriched by its history. Through this fusion, I seek to offer an alternative to the binary debate of preservation versus renewal: a path that honors the legacy of the past while actively shaping a dynamic and inclusive future. As I continue to explore and define this journey to the neo-future, I am discovering and presenting a new standard of music—a genre-defying style that blends timeless cultural beauty with cutting-edge technology. This dynamic fusion creates an immersive experience that transcends traditional boundaries, redefining what music and art can be in our rapidly evolving world. I invite you to join me on this journey of discovery, to explore the possibilities of blending heritage with innovation, and together, we can shape a future where the past and future coexist in vibrant harmony.
